Good Morning My Friends,
Earlier this week I made a simple LinkedIn post where I gave a one piece of unsolicited advice.
No photo, no video, just a written post. It can be found HERE. Or you can keep reading.
I have 1 piece of unsolicited advice for you today.
Call someone you love today.
Yesterday I had a ton of windshield time while traveling to a customer.
In years past, one thing I would always do is call my Grandmother.
I was reminded yesterday that opportunity is no longer available to me.
Man, I miss that.
Call someone you love today.
That’s your order for today.
I wanted to use this week's Mornings with Mickey to expound a little bit more on this.
Sans a few days here and there, I have not lived in my hometown since I left for Calvin University in the fall of 1999. Calling my Grandmother was a way to stay connected to my roots. A way to stay connected to the current events of the farm and family.
She was a safe voice, one whose voice brought me a sense of comfort when we talked.
This is also a small part of what makes grief so complex. I'm going to miss those calls for the remainder of my life.
My friends, every single one of us has that voice you miss talking to.
And every single one of us still has someone we love who we enjoy talking to on the phone.
Call them today.
